All the diets in one place

This is a fantastic website for anyone trying to make sense of the various diets out there. The Diet Channel has information about online diet programs and diets by food, like the popcorn diet and the cabbage soup diet. It talks about recent diet news and trends. It makes recommendations.

A new take on the apple cider vinegar diet

Vinegar Can Fight Diabetes and Promote Weight Loss 1/22/05 - this article reports a study that found vinegar has blood-sugar stabilizing effects, and promotes weight loss. In the followup study, participants took two tablespoons of vinegar before two meals a day and lost a pound or two a week without changing anything else.

Since this study did not exclusively involve apple cider vinegar, one conclusion is that it is the acetic acid in the vinegar that causes the desired effects, not the pectin found in apple cider vinegar.

Here's a good way to easily get vinegar into your stomach: on a salad before a meal. Mix one part olive oil with two to three parts vinegar. Pour on salad, then add a small handful of 2% milk, shredded, cheddar cheese. mmm, very tasty.
