Before I had my baby I always had the time to cut each onion and dice the garlic and slice the carrots ... but now that I have to choose between elaborate cooking and a daily shower I decided to invest the money in a food processor, hoping to shave a few minutes off my meal preparation time. I have a 7 cup Kenmore food processor that I got from Sears. I use it mostly to slice or chop cucumbers, zucchini, onions, garlic, carrots and peppers, and sometimes to pulverize dry ingredients like oatmeal and brown rice. When I was making my own baby food I could make larger batches in the food processor then I ever could in the blender. It's easy to clean (for most non-sticky foods I just rinse the processor immediately and let it air dry). I definitely recommend getting around a seven cup model that will have a permanent home on your counter. I used to have a 1.5 cup food processor that I would put away in a cabinet but I didn't use it very much and I always had to empty the container several times when I did use it. As for a review of my Kenmore food processor, I like it. It was relatively inexpensive, it hasn't given me any problems, and it works well. It's a KFP-7, at seven cups it is the perfect size for small to medium family cooking. . |
