Simplify, Simplify, Simplify.  Why do you want to simplify?

Do you find yourself spending too much of your life on things that don’t matter to you, or worse yet, that you hate to do?

Are you spending so much time getting ready for your day and maintaining the stuff around you that there is no time left for anything fun?

These are really good reasons to simplify.  Life is supposed to be fun.  If you aren’t spending the bulk of your time on activities you are interested in and activities that you love, then what you are actually doing is slowly dying.  yuck.

So, what have most of us found ourselves doing way too much of these days that just doesn’t ring our bells?

Cooking?  Cleaning?  Yard work? Getting ready for the next day?  Work we don’t love?  Watching TV?  gasp!

You know, some people love cooking, and they are the ones that should be doing all of it.  The rest of us might want to learn to be happy on cottage cheese and fruit.  Yes, this is valid simplifying.

How to fix your life now

Sit down right now with a piece of paper and list 15 things that you LOVE to do.  Can’t come up with 15?  Yeah, that’s a problem.  When I first wanted to do this I couldn’t come up with one thing that I LOVED to do.  Somehow, we let life grind all passion out of us – and that is what we want to fix today.

Ok, so sit down and come up with anything you LOVE to do, and then fill up the rest of the list with things that you LIKE to do.  Once you have your list, your goal is 1) to do these things as often as possible and 2) to turn the like activities into LOVE activities by using your power of focus and 3) find more things to put on your list.

Using the power of your focus to turn your LIKEs into LOVEs

Ok, so you may have determined that you LIKE to walk your dogs.  Let’s turn that into a LOVE.  The next time you are walking your dogs, use your mind and think of all the reasons why you like it.  Make list in your head.  You like getting outside.  You like to see how excited your dogs get.  Oooh, the breeze feels good.  It gets you out of the house … and on and on.  Your goal is to generate a feeling of joy inside yourself while you are walking the dogs.  If anything gets you closer to feeling that joy expand upon it.  Really milk it for all it is worth.  Invite passion into your life again.  Passion is fun.

Simplify your Life So you HAVE More time to Do your LIKES and LOVES

Ok, so let’s go back to what you spend the most time on that you just don’t enjoy doing.  Let’s figure out a way to reduce or elimnate it!  I went to paper plates.  I also put away all the rest of our dishes so that there is only one fork, knife, spoon, bowl, and cup for each person.  This forces you to wash before you eat so there is never a sink full of dishes.  I got rid of my cell phone so I don’t have to mess with it.

These are the kind of drastic things I am talking about!  In order to get a new result you must take new action!  If you want a dramatically new result you must take dramatically new action!

Leave me a comment if you are stuck.  We can brainstorm how best to simplify your life.
