Ok, so I think these real construction kits are the best christmas toy available for kids ages 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and maybe even 10, depending on their current abilities.
The real construction kits (see all of them here) are a very creative and safe toy.
They stimulate building skills and are just fun, especially for any boy who likes to build and create.
I got one for my son for christmas but ended up giving it to him early when he was sick and couldn’t go anywhere for a few days.
He used up every piece of kid wood in a few hours. He built an airplane and a boat and a bunch of smaller pieces – just trying to see how the hinges worked and the screws worked, etc.
He was able to do it right in the living room – there was no mess or anything. I really love this toy and think that anyone would like it for christmas.
UNLESS, the child is an accomplished builder who already builds with real wood – then this would be a step back for them.
The kit I got came with a saw and a hammer and an angle measure and a screwdriver. I’m thinking of getting all the tools, like the miter saw too.
