Chickpeas are the main ingredient of hummus, a kind of spread or a dip.  Truth is, chickpea is the English word of for the Arabic word hummus.  But there are now many hummus types that do not require chickpeas, but garbanzo beans instead.  Yet, these are just the same items.  Italians even know these as cece beans. Going far back to the ancient times, hummus is one of those earliest foods prepared.  Indeed, chickpea usage dates back for over seven millenniums ago.

Hummus will taste differently in different places.  Different types of hummus may have garlic flavor, spicy tones or garlic flavors.  Such will be according to your taste and the flavors that you prefer.  For example, if you do not like tahini, but the recipe calls for it, then you can omit it or just put in some minute amounts.  Cooking the Middle Eastern way will not limit you on the ingredient amounts; so you can enjoy more.  You will still create great food though you add some or omit some ingredients.

For a more enjoyable experience, here are some types of hummus that contains a wide variation of ingredients. There are the Hummus with or without Tahini, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Roasted Garlic Hummus, Black Bean Hummus, Sun Dried Tomato Hummus, Spinach Hummus, Spinach and Feta Hummus, Kalamata Olive Hummus, Peanut Butter Hummus, Low Fat Hummus with Yogurt, Hazelnut Hummus, Almond Butter Hummus Recipe, Cilantro and Lemon Hummus, Pumpkin Hummus, Soybean Hummus, Tomato Basil Hummus, Walnut Hummus, White Bean Hummus, Red Bell Pepper Hummus, Roasted Eggplant Hummus, Hummus with Pine Nuts, Hummus with Yogurt, Hummus with Sesame Oil, Tofu Hummus, Lemon Garlic Hummus, Zucchini Hummus, Jalapeno Hummus, Chipotle Cilantro Hummus, Sweet Potato Hummus, Artichoke Hummus and Cranberry Hummus.

Hummus is really a great healthy alternative for chips in a dip. So using and learning how Google latitude works, you can always find your favorite grocery store and make sure you never run out of hummus.

Served in one type or many types, hummus is great with pita bread wedges, fresh vegetables and pita chips. Hummus can also be best served as appetizers. To make the bland-looking types of hummus attractive, you have to present these is an appetizing way.  Hummus should never be ignored just because they do not look exciting to eat.  You can place on top of your types of hummus paprika or red pepper powder or flakes, to give more life to your hummus.  You can add excitement as well using different colors of bowls to serve your types of  hummus.  You can add excitement as well using different colors of bowls to serve your types of  hummus. Presentation is also a key factor for food aside from how these would taste.

Different types of hummus are healthier than junk foods and fatty dips, no matter how you would eat them. So grab a type of hummus from your local stores or make these yourself.

This is my own recipe for making beef lasagna. This recipe requires approximately 2 hours and serves 6. Part of this recipe requires already made pasta sauce, and this can save you some time. Feel free to make any changes to the recipe.

Recipe:

Ingredients

* 12 lasagna noodles
* 1 jar of pasta sauce
* 1 lb of ground beef
* 1 cup of shredded mozarella cheese
* 2 cup of shredded ricotta cheese
* 1/2 Parmesan Cheese

Prepare a frying pan and fry the beef  until brown. Add the pasta sauce into the beef and cook the sauce. When the sauce is boiling, add some flour while stirring to thicken the meat sauce. Next, boil the lasagna noodles. When the noodles are done, cool them under running cold water and dry them. When you have all the ingredients ready, we can start with the layering of lasagna.

For the second part of this easy lasagna recipe, prepare a baking dish and spread the dish with a thin layer of oil. Place 3 lasagna noodles on the dish. This is the first layer of lasagna noodles. Spread 1/4 of the meat sauce on the noodles evenly. Sprinkle a layer of ricotta cheese, then a layer of mozzarella cheese over the meat sauce. The first layer of lasagna is done. For the second layer, place 3 more noodles on top of the cheese. Add 1/4 of the meat sauce and the same layer of ricotta cheese and mozzarella cheese on top. Repeat for layer 3. Top the lasagna with 3 more noodles. Sprinkle the last layer of parmesan cheese. Cover the dish with foil. Preheat the oven to 200°C and bake the lasagna for 1 hour. After one hour, remove the lasagna from the oven and allow it to cool. Cut the lasagna and serve.

If you are preparing this dish for a party, feel free to check out this chocolate chip cookie recipe to amaze your guests.

If you want to add some more flavoring you can add this white sauce on top of the noodle layer.

* 1/4 cup Butter
* 1/4 cup Flour
* 2 cups Milk

Melt the butter in a sauce pan under medium fire. Add the flour and stir until it foams. Continue to stir and add the milk at the same time. Cook the sauce until it thickens. Chill the sauce in the refrigerator.

Choosing the best rice cooker for your family

Choosing the best rice cooker for your family

The best rice cooker for your family will be the right size, and have the right features.  Rice cookers are available with many different settings now.  Some can be programmed to have the rice ready to serve at a certain time.  Some use fuzzy logic, also known as neuro fuzzy or micom rice cookers.  These have special sensors which can determine exactly how long the rice needs to cook to be perfectly done.  No more burned or crunchy rice.  Some of the best known brands include Zojirushi, Sanyo, and Tiger, but other manufacturers are also making fuzzy logic rice cookers now.

Ask yourself a few questions to make sure you’re getting the best rice cooker for your needs.  Do you want to expand your family’s tastes into other grains besides white rice?  A neuro fuzzy rice cooker makes this easier, as many different grains can be cooked to perfection easily in it.  Does your family like to eat oatmeal in the morning?  Again, the fuzzy logic cooker makes it easy to wake up to hot breakfast cereal.  How much rice does your family like to eat?  A rice cooker that is too small will not be very useful, so it’s important to consider the best size for you.  My family of four finds that a 5 cup cooker is just right.

After you choose your new rice cooker, you will probably find that you eat rice more often, because it will be easier to prepare and tastier than before.  There are many delicious rice cooker recipes available to add variety to your meals.  There are rice cookers available at a number of different price points, including some under $100 with fuzzy logic technology.  I don’t know how reliably these less expensive fuzzy logic rice cookers perform, but they may be the best choice to meet the needs of your budget.  I do know that the Zojirushi, Sanyo, and Tiger brand cookers have a great reputation that has been earned over a number of years.  The convenience of a good rice cooker can make dinnertime more enjoyable for you.

Make a Wish of List of Fat Burning Foods this Christmas

Making a list of your Christmas wishes will be fun. You can list all the goodies you want and hope you’ll get them all. But what about after the Yule season when you’ve eaten all that goodies and more? You may need to make another list and I’m not talking about New Year’s resolution but it could very well be: a list of fat burning foods you’ll promise to eat the next three months.

The only way to come back from a holiday like Christmas is to bring your weight down immediately. You may have broken all the cardinal rules about dieting and you have to pay for them. You will have to eat more. Yes, you’re not misreading anything. You have to eat more but this time it’ll be less in calorie but more in proteins. You had your carbohydrates and you’re not looking well.

The list will contain something like this, just for a sampler: Turkey meat; chicken breast, pork and beef lean meat; salmon, mackerel and other fatty fish containing Omega-3; green tea, coffee, and skim milk; clams and other marine foods; and some vegetables and chili peppers. What do you think? They’re gourmet foods, don’t you think? It shouldn’t be hard for you to find some more to add to your list of fat burning foods if you go looking for them in the internet.

These foods are also called thermogenic foods. Their tissues are packed with heat waiting to be released after they are ingested. You’ll feel warm when you eat these types of foods. Your body’s metabolism will increase and your energy level will go up. While the fat tissues are being melted they release more heat into the body. These fat tissues are repository of heat in the forms of calorie captured inside them. While the fat tissues are being melted away they release more heat into the body increasing its metabolic rate.

This type of plan on how to lose weight is better than going hungry and getting weak. All you have to do is pick the correct food and eat them. Lifting your spoon and fork towards your mouth and chewing them would be the nearest semblance of exercise you’ll ever do. You’re not going to strain your muscles and they’ll going to be preserved just the same.

Eat only moderately during each meal but you can divide your regular meals to six meals a day if you want. Distirbute your food equally into six different portions.

The black colored kitchen sinks will never be out of place as black has always been a color of choice in house decorating, particularly in the kitchen. Black countertops and sinks look attractive in a contemporary kitchen and can even enhance its overall look. Compared to other colors, black doesn’t have any issues with any other color and nearly every interior designer will agree to that.

You may wonder, out of so many shades to choose from, why a lot of home owners prefer black sinks for their kitchen. What’s so special about them that they have become so popular? If you are not yet familiar with black sinks, then here are some eye-opening basics.

Black sinks offer timeless beauty and have been around for decades. Try to visit some very old residences and you’ll find black sinks in the kitchen as well as in the bathrooms. Don’t be surprised either if you see them high on every interior designer’s list as far as sink color is concerned. These sinks exude a classic appeal that never seems to go out of style.

Black sinks are much easier to clean and maintain than some of the other styles available. If you fail to clean up the spills and stains immediately, don’t be too concerned as stains can hardly show up on a black finish. Black sinks have a natural gloss so cleaning them is easy and convenient with just a sponge and soap.

Black sinks also come in a wide range of styles, design and sizes. They are made out of various materials such as metal, porcelain or ceramic that will truly suit anyone’s taste. The more expensive ones like the black Franke granite sinks are scratch and stain resistant.

Black sinks for the kitchen are sold in standard, double, or triple and all of them allow you to install a faucet of your choice.

When it comes to outdoor sign lighting fixtures you need to buy the ones that are reliable and durable so you will not have any problems after installation. It is very troublesome to keep replacing things and fixtures once you have installed them in place. But when the lighting fixtures are not made with quality materials they will be giving you problems and you will need to keep replacing and repairing them which will surely be quite annoying. This is something that you can avoid also by buying those solar powered outdoor sign lighting fixtures. Solar powered lighting fixtures are really reliable and they are the best option for any of the outdoor lighting needs you might have. Outdoor lighting does not need to be turned on during the day and the solar powered lights will take charge during the day time. This is why they will be the best option for you to buy for all your outdoor lighting. Solar powered lights are good for the environment too and in addition to that they are so much more economical than usual light fixtures.

Usually it is rare to find an earth friendly option that is also economical but solar powered lights are exactly that. They are good for the environment because they take their energy from sunlight and this is why there is a complete conservation of fossil fuels. They also have highly durable LEDs instead of regular light bulbs so you can be assured that there will rarely be any replacement or repairs for years to come unlike standard bulbs which will need to be replaced every other day depending on the usage. Less wastage is also something that fares well for your budget and for the environment. Another important benefit that you get from solar powered lights is that there is no problem of turning them on and off. Solar lights come with units that detect levels of light and that are why they turn on when it becomes darker and they automatically turn off for charging when dawn arises. This is why they make your life so much simpler and you do not have to worry about turning them on and off all the time.

Some solar lights also come with motion sensors that turn the light off when there are people around and turns it off when there is no one to save the charge. This is another amazing feature that you can benefit from. You can get all kinds of different outdoor lights from online shops like patio umbrella lights and solar driveway lights.
