Spicy Tofu and Italian Vegetable Lasagna Recipes
Vegans and vegetarians will love these easy spicy tofu recipes and Italian vegetable lasagna dishes. The first tofu recipe is really simple – but tasty. For those who enjoy spicy Oriental sweet and sour sauces, this one is perfect:
Sweet and Sour Tofu Recipes:
Dice a block of firm tofu (or smoked tofu) into cubes or rectangular slices and brown in a little olive or fish oil. Add slender strips of sweet red and green peppers and sliced celery (long). Sautee for a few minutes and add a little soy sauce and a generous portion of Kikoman or Lee Kum Kee Sweet and Sour sauce. Lee Kum Kee sauce is recommended because it doesn’t contain artificial flavors or color. Serve this tangy veggie dish with brown or Basmati rice. It takes only a few minutes to prepare and is very satisfying. Remember: don’t overcook the veggies. They should be crunchy.
Variation 1: Tofu recipes can be made spicy by simply adding one fresh cayenne pepper, or even a little piece of a pepper while sautéing the veggies and then removing it. For those who like really spicy dishes, the best sauces are Chinese garlic and chili pastes, Sriracha sauce which is made from sun-ripened chilies and garlic, or any authentic Szechwan Chili sauce.
Variation 2: Thai tofu recipes can be adapted from the above basic recipe by simply adding peanuts, or a little peanut sauce. If you need a quick solution, one of the best products is the Thai Kitchen Peanut Satay Sauce that’s thick and ready to add to firm tofu and vegetable stir fries.
Now for something Italian.
The following vegetable lasagna recipe is simple to prepare. It consists primarily of mushrooms and spinach. Grind Portobello mushrooms into a ground beef consistency. Sautee with onions garlic, basil, oregano and a little sea salt. Finely chop the spinach and set to one side.
To make the vegetable lasagna creamy, make a white sauce using whipped almond milk seasoned with a cube of vegetable bullion and fresh ground pepper. When the strips of lasagna are cooked, lay them in a baking dish and spread the ground mushroom mixture in layers alternating the spinach and white sauce. For the outer crust (if this is a vegan vegetable lasagna) then use a cheese substitute like the daiya mozzarella product, or create a golden crusts spreading layers of yeast flakes and sesame paste called tahini.
Vegetable lasagna variants include using tomatoes instead of spinach and zucchini or eggplant instead of mushrooms.

Why Choose the Weber Propane Q100 Portable Gas Grill?
When a short while ago a cousin of mine needed to buy a grill for his barbecues as well as for taking along on his occasional camping trips he asked me for some advice on which to choose.
After a bit of research we settled on the Weber Propane Q100 portable gas grill for various reasons.
Compared to charcoal grills, gas grills are simple to start up and easy to operate. They heat up faster and unlike charcoal grills always produce a consistent amount of heat so you end up with better, more evenly grilled food. Weber’s Q100 propane grill has a single push button ignition switch which starts the burner instantly so you won’t be caught short if you forget to bring a lighter as part of your camping gear.
The other control is its burner valve, which is designed to allow you to adjust the amount of heat in very fine steps. This unit’s burner is capable of producing 8,500 BTU so it can easily cope with a small number of people at a barbecue or provide a family meal when you go camping.
You can fuel the Weber Q100 in two different ways, which is quite handy if you go camping. You can either connect a 20lb propane tank to it using an adapter cord or you can attach disposable liquid propane cylinders to the unit.
Next, we looked at the construction. Naturally, in terms of durability, completely stainless steel construction would be best, however, for most purposes especially if you intend to move it around that would be too heavy and too expensive. The Weber Q100 is equipped with a long lasting stainless steel burner. However it’s cooking grate is made of porcelain enamelled cast-iron so that heat production is radiated evenly across the grill surface.
Other features include a durable grill cover and retractable weather resistant handles. So that you can clean up easily once you finish using the unit, it also has a removable drip pan underneath. You can also get a carrying case and stand for it.
When it is open for use, the Weber Q100 Portable Propane Grill is almost 2 feet high by 2.25 feet wide and its total cooking area is 189 square inches in total, which is adequate for family use.
In essence this portable gas grill makes a great choice if you want to be able to get both good home barbecue and camping use out of your grill.
