When you purchase fish from the fish monger, your initial decisions will revolve around how much you want, and how ready to cook it is. For instance, do you want fillets ready to pan fry, or are you willing to take a whole fish and take care of the flesh, fins, scales, gills, and guts yourself? Do you want tail off or tail on? The advantage of buying a whole fish uncleaned is the price. If you are willing to put in a little sweat equity as it were, you can save a bundle. In order to prepare the fish for eating, you will have a little work to do in the kitchen, and you will need to have the right equipment at hand. This article will tell you some of the things that can come in handy. They will likely pay for themselves over time, based on the money you save each time you buy fish at the market!
Here are the basic tools that will come in handy when it comes to fish:
- Glove hand covering is wise if you are dealing with things like shelling shellfish. Those oyster shells can cut you!
- Fish pliers are not just for when you are out in the boat catching the little guys. They come in handy in the kitchen for taking out salmon tines. The home improvement store can supply you with needle nose pliers, and you can clean them afterwards for kitchen use.
- Fish scaling has got to be the ickiest of all fish cleaning jobs, and you know that if you have ever cleaned a whole bunch of fish. While electric fish scalers exist, manual ones will serve you just as well.
- A fish gutting knife or two is essential. It is curved and especially designed for the task.
- Kitchen shears should be clean and sharp.The ones you use for cutting poultry will work, but again, make sure they are clean before using.
- Having a fillet knife is a good thing if you want to be like the pro chefs. You can live without it, but personally, it’s a good thing.
- If you are going to clean shellfish, make sure you have knives for clam, shrimp, and oysters.
If you are embarking on a weight loss plan that includes fish, like the diet HCG weight loss plan, all of these utensils will come in handy. Just assemble them before beginning the diet days. This way you will know in advance that you have on hand all of your necessary and useful HCG diet tools.
Finding the best flavors for Pork Tenderloin
Pork tenderloin is one of my favorite dishes. Not only is it a very flavorful meat, it is also one of the healthiest types of red meet you can eat – it is low in fat and cholesterol. Furthermore, it is very easy to cook. Now these in themselves are enough to convince most people that pork tenderloin makes a great dish.
However, there is more. Pork is also an extremely versatile meat, and you can eat it with all different forms of spices and sauces. Here are some of the best combinations taken from my favorite pork tenderloin recipes:
Berry Sauces – pork goes fantastic with many different fruits, and especially berries. One of the most popular of my recipes is a pork loin with a blueberry port sauce. The sweetness goes excellent with the pork, making this a popular combination.
Other recipes I enjoy using fruits are pork with sour cherry sauce (great sweet sour combination), pork with apple and caramelized onions, and roast pork loin with sherry, apple and raisin compote. As you can see, each recipe is a very distinct flavour, but they all go great with pork.
Spices – pork goes great with rosemary, thyme, cinnamon, pepper, cumin and I am sure many other spices (not all at the same time). It is sufficient to make the pork loin roasted in the oven with a spice or two, and these spices will really shine through when you taste the pork. As always, it is important to use fresh spices.
Tangy sauces – pork with tangy sauces is also a great combination, and tends to be a favorite with kids and often with adults.
My favorite of all pork recipes is pork loin with with a maple dijon sauce, served with maple sauteed apples. Another favorite is pork loin with a BBQ sauce. It is delicious like ribs, but without all the fat.
Curried pork – the indians and thai do this the best. Pork goes great with curry sauces…red thai curries or indian yellow curries. Although a typical curry is not normally make with pork tenderloin, it is a great way to make it, as it is much healthier.
Outdoor Meals

When planning a picnic or outdoor meal, one should cook the right food. There are numerous pork chop recipes and potato salad recipes online. However, choosing the right recipe is important. One will naturally want to enjoy good food along with good weather.
It is important to follow a recipe carefully and make sure the food has been properly prepared. A person who has never prepared a particular dish before should take the time to study the recipe and follow it.
While experienced cooks often tweak the recipe, adding an ingredient here and there, a person who has never made a particular dish should not try to modify the recipe. One should choose a recipe that is simple and easy to follow. Surprisingly, some simple recipes are quite delicious.
Pork chops and potato salad are a good combination. These two particular dishes can be the main dishes of an outside meal. However, an outside meal is not complete without other dishes as well. A good vegetable salad made using lettuce, corn, carrots and tomatoes will compliment the main dishes quite nicely.
A few side dishes are also important to have on hand. How much food one prepares will naturally depend on how many people are coming and how fancy the meal is meant to be. However, side dishes are easier to make than the main dishes and add a lot to an outside meal.
When preparing a main dish for an outside meal, one should take the time to do it properly. A person who does not have a lot of experience with preparing either pork chop recipes or chicken breast recipes should look up appropriate recipes for these delectable dishes.
Choose a recipe that is easy to follow and that is not overly complicated. If you want to tweak the recipe a bit, this is fine but do not overly modify a recipe if you are new to preparing a particular dish.

Why Choose the Weber Propane Q100 Portable Gas Grill?
When a short while ago a cousin of mine needed to buy a grill for his barbecues as well as for taking along on his occasional camping trips he asked me for some advice on which to choose.

You can fuel the Weber Q100 in two different ways, which is quite handy if you go camping. You can either connect a 20lb propane tank to it using an adapter cord or you can attach disposable liquid propane cylinders to the unit.
Next, we looked at the construction. Naturally, in terms of durability, completely stainless steel construction would be best, however, for most purposes especially if you intend to move it around that would be too heavy and too expensive. The Weber Q100 is equipped with a long lasting stainless steel burner. However it’s cooking grate is made of porcelain enamelled cast-iron so that heat production is radiated evenly across the grill surface.
Other features include a durable grill cover and retractable weather resistant handles. So that you can clean up easily once you finish using the unit, it also has a removable drip pan underneath. You can also get a carrying case and stand for it.
When it is open for use, the Weber Q100 Portable Propane Grill is almost 2 feet high by 2.25 feet wide and its total cooking area is 189 square inches in total, which is adequate for family use.
In essence this portable gas grill makes a great choice if you want to be able to get both good home barbecue and camping use out of your grill.

Gorgeous Lemon Chicken
I remember when I met my wife she told me that one of favourite dishes was any kind of Chinese food and seeing as I had not set foot in a Chinese restaurant up until that point I was a bit dubious.
We went to a Chinese restaurant the following night and I am a little bit of a fussy eater believe it or not so i plumped for Lemon chicken and then found that I had a new favourite dish, I loved it so much I started experimenting by making it myself from scratch and making it slight differently as I love to be creative.
So here is my lemon chicken dish that I serve up regularly to family and friends, I hope you like it.
Lemon Chicken
Ingredients:
- Chicken breast strips
- 1 crushed garlic
- 1 chili chopped
- 2 tbsp of cornflour
- 1 egg white
- 1 tbsp of soy sauce
- 1tbsp of sugar
- chicken stock
- 4 lemons
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Groundnut oil
Preperation:
- Put the cornflour, chicken, egg white, salt and a dash of oil into a large bowl and mix thoroughly, place in the fridge and leave to soak for approx half an hour.
- Heat a wok and add a dash of groundnut oil and heat until it starts to smoke.
- Remove from the heat and add the chicken out of the mix you prepared earlier, remember to constantly turn the chicken otherwise it will stick to the pan.
- When the chicken is a nice white colour remove and place to one side.
- Clean the wok and add stock, lemon juice and sugar along with the garlic and chili and get to the boil.
- Once boiling add in the cornflour then simmer for a couple of minutes and add the chicken, stir fry to make sure the chicken is cooked and add your pepper.
- Add rice to complement and you have your perfect lemon chicken.

A Simple French Toast Recipe
A lot of people prefer to have their breakfasts in the form of French Toasts. Several countries consider this food as something that is a usual breakfast food while there are some that considers this recipe as something that is served on special occasions only.

The Recipe
How to make French Toast that is usually used by people when creating their breakfast treat requires
4 eggs,
a teaspoon of salt,
a cup of milk,
butter,
maple syrup or any other syrup of your choice and
about 10 to 12 slices of white bread.
To start the preparation you need to beat the eggs in a shallow bowl together with the sugar, salt and milk.
Preheat a skillet over medium low heat and coat it with a thin layer of butter or even margarine as an alternative.
While doing that, soak the break on the egg mixture and then fry it on the skillet until it is golden brown.
You have to ensure that the bread is properly soaked on the egg mixture for more taste. In addition, make sure that you will be able to fry both sides.
You can then serve it with butter or with the syrup of your choice.
This is a simple French Toast that you can prepare in less than 10 minutes. Preparation time is very short and the ingredients are not complicated that you can even have your kids make their own while you are standing close by. This recipe serves 4.

Mikey’s Masterpiece Barbecue Sauce Recipe

Summertime is almost upon us. It is time to clean the barbecue and get ready for cook-outs! One of the most popular outdoor meals is the good old barbecue. So saddle up and let’s get ready to make the most important part of the meal. The sauce!
The usual barbecue sauce recipe is made by using ketchup and molasses. Ketchup has long been he favorite way to barbecue chicken. It is so easy to prepare and use the tried and good bbq chicken recipe. For a change try to make the bbq chicken recipe long used in the Southwest and as well as the western states of the country. Try the vinegar and mustard sauce for a change.
Prep Time- 15 mins
Cook- 30 mins
Total- 45 mins
Makes about 2 1/4 cups
Ingredients:
1/4 C water
1 C mustard
2 tbsp chili
3/4 C vinegar
1 tsp blk pepper
1/4 C brn sugar
1/2 C sugar
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp liquid hickory smoke
1 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp soy sauce
1. Mix together with the remainder of the ingredients and place into a large saucepan. The other ingredients should be added to the mixture later.
Caution: This sauce might be too spicy if you are cooking for your kids. If this is the case simply use a pinch of chili powder, and cayenne pepper. That should make the sauce mild enough for children to enjoy.
2. Simmer for about half an hour.
3. Add remainder of ingredients, stir and simmer for 10 minutes longer until ready to be used on the cleaned chicken and place on the barbecue.
That’s it! Now you are ready to coat your meat and grill up a great meal. This recipe is great for any meat, whether you are cooking delicious spare ribs, or using it for a bbq chicken breast recipe. Save some of the sauce for later if you want to use it as dipping sauce if you like.

Marinated Sirloin Steak

Last Friday afternoon my girlfriend and I went to a party at her neighbor’s house. Her neighbor has been a professional chef for the last six years and usually prepares excellent foods for our friends.
On this particular afternoon she prepared a very tasty marinated sirloin steak that was packed with protein. Most people today are very health conscious and don’t want to consume too many carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are what is stored as fat if you do not burn them off. For this reason, many health conscious people today do their best to eat more protine than they do carbohydrates.
This is a tactic to help people lose weight. Well, I didn’t know this but my girlfriend and her friend talked to me about the importance of eating a high-protein diet.
While we were at this get together, I learned a lot about how eating high protein meals can affect my weight. I did not know that it was so much more healthier to eat more protein than carbohydrates.
When my girlfriend and I began to help her cook, we were discussing the recipe at hand. We determined that a marinated sirloin steak is something that we’re going to eat on a regular basis.
My girlfriends friend told us that preparing sirloin is not difficult at all. She said for this particular recipe all we were going to need was cut honey, olive oil, vinegar, garlic, ground pepper, obviously sirloin steak, and sliced tomatoes for extra flavor.
She said that basically we needed to get a blender and combine the first five ingredients together. By blending in together it will give the sirloin more of a uniform flavor. Basically what we’re going to do is drain all the marinade from the plastic bag that your sirloin was marinating in. Once you have drained all the marinade out, this is when you add a few more spices. On this particular day, we only added a little bit of seasoned salt and a little bit of regular salt in addition to its main ingredients. It did not take us long to prepare this because our friend had prepared it a number of times before and was very good at it.
She told us that sirloin is something that is served at just about every restaurant so that we don’t always have two prepare it at home. She told us that we can go to places like outback steakhouse, or Chili’s, or better yet, Applebee’s bar and Grill.
She said that she actually learned how to prepare her steaks while she was eating one at Applebee’s. She told us that if we were not comfortable with preparing sirloin on our own that we could also learn at Applebee’s. She said that whenever she goes to Applebee’s she saves money by using some of their free Applebee’s coupons. Each Applebee’s coupon is worth a different value but it will definitely help you save money either way.
When we sat down to eat dinner all of us go into our steaks. My girlfriends best friend also prepared some cabbage, corn, and baked beans to go along with the robust flavor of this marinated sirloin. The afternoon went great but I am not sure if I am going to prepare sirloin on my own.
With that being said, I want everyone else to know that they can also go to Applebee’s or outback or Chili’s and get a very similar marinated sirloin steak. If you are the type of person that likes to prepare your own food, then feel free and enjoy the experience.
