Thomas the Tank Engine
I usually buy my Thomas stuff from AllAboardtoys or ebay. Don't be afraid to buy Thomas on Ebay. Since he comes included in so many sets, many people have extras that have never even been played with and they will list these online for sale for pretty low prices sometimes. Our first dozen or so trains came from ebay and we got some good deals. The thomas trains are so durable that they are usually in good shape for a long time - they can really take a beating. Not my first choice as their prices are high but they may offer something you can't find elsewhere. What Thomas Train Types are There? Wooden - Thomas is of course available in wooden form. This is the most popular Thomas. This is the one that children will be most familiar with from the older, non-animated videos. The wooden trains are the most expensive and most expansive - you can get train tables and hundreds of characters and thousands of destinations, accessories and sets. You can also get a battery-operated Thomas that works with this kind. Metal, or diecast - The diecast trains are smaller and heavier than the wooden ones. The associated track is plastic and without rails. The sets and destinations are not as numerous as the wooden, but these are probably the second most popular toys. Plastic - Motorized road and rail - Personally, these are probably my favorite because every character moves, but they are definitely more limiting than the other kinds. There are less available sets and characters all around. For Babies - Thomas comes in tons of toys to appeal to infants and young toddlers. There are ride-ons and pull-alongs, puzzles, blocks, and push alongs. Thomas InformationThe Thomas train is the favorite of most children. The toy stores with train tables always have at least four or five Thomases to keep the fighting down. My boy has 3 wooden Thomases so everyone gets a Thomas when he has friends over to play. Although not the biggest or the oldest, or the one with the most important job, Thomas is the main character, and no child's collection is complete without him. Thomas is always the color blue, and has a number 1 painted on his side. There's some good stuff here, like tv schedules, promotion information, games, and coloring pages. They also have a rather new official store, but the search interface doesn't seem to be working well at this point (06/06). The prices also are very high. When I checked, a wooden thomas train was $10.99 compared to $7.97 at allaboardtoys. There is a lot of book information here, plus a few printables and coloring pages. Learn about the creation of the Thomas the tank engine character. Shows you the actual real trains that inspired the characters of Thomas. Tons of ideas like train games and cookies. Sets Wooden Thomas - AllAboardToys frequently has had him on sale for $7.97, this is definitely the lowest standard price I have seen. I see him right now on Ebay for $0.99 plus $4.95 shipping, new. He costs $15 at my local walk-in toy store, and a lot of online stores seem to have this price too. Exclusivelythomas.com was selling him for $10.99 when I checked. Diecast Thomas (Take Along Thomas) - These trains are cheaper than the wooden ones. Allaboardtoys.com had the metal Thomas on sale for $4.97 when I checked. Totallythomas had him for $5.99. Looking around, these are the best prices you are going to find. |
